Steve Vecchi - Vocalist

Steve Vecchi Biography

A Minnesota native, Steve Vecchi has been singing professionally for the past 35 years. Before specializing in vocals, Steve was a member of the University of Minnesota-Duluth Jazz Ensemble I, where he was regularly featured as a trumpet and flugelhorn soloist with such guest jazz artists as Clark Terry, Marv Stamm, Tom Harrell, Freddie Hubbard and Bill Watrous. In 1975, Steve shifted his primary focus to vocals, where he performed as a lead vocalist in numerous Minneapolis / St. Paul show bands. In the late 1980’s, Steve began writing his own compositions and concentrating his vocal studies to the “big band” and “crooner” styles, primarily due to his extensive jazz instrumental background. In 1990, working with talented musical arrangers, Steve began developing a library of custom musical arrangements, including 17-Piece “Big Band” orchestrations of his original songs, as well as some of the greatest musical “standards” previously performed by Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Bobby Darin, Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin. Today, Steve has one of the finest collection of custom musical arrangements in the United States that feature orchestrations ranging from a 3-Piece Trio up to a full 17-Piece Big Band. These musical arrangements enable Steve to authentically recreate this classic music live to audiences throughout the United States and the world.

During the past 20 years, Steve has been featured in numerous shows, concerts, festivals and conventions throughout the United States and Italy including Las Vegas, Chicago, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Atlanta, Marksville, Miami, Orlando, Palm Springs, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Palermo, Sicily. Steve has performed as the opening act for numerous national recording artists, including B.B. King, Spryo Gyra, Louie Anderson, Connie Stevens, The 4 Lads, The 4 Aces, Al Martino, Dick Contino, Bobby Lyle and Bill Kirkenbaur. Steve has also been featured at Disney World’s Epcot Center and in the largest showrooms of the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. In addition to the stage, Steve’s voice has been featured in numerous local and national television and radio commercials and he has had the rare opportunity to meet and talk extensively, one on one, with Tony Bennett and the late Woody Herman and Count Basie.

Steve currently offers several exciting shows including, ”A Tribute to the Music of Frank Sinatra”, “A Tribute to the Great American Crooners”, “The Music of the Great American Songbook” and “The Music of the Rat Pack”. In his performances, Steve also plays trumpet, flugelhorn and various Latin percussion instruments to include congas and timbales.
